Some of the largest tides were seen today across the UK. One area that is known for flooding and especially trapping unsuspecting tourist in their cars, is Laugharne car park. Laugharne is known as the home of Dylan Thomas' writing shed where many of his poems where written - one of my favourite poems with lots of Towy references is Over Sir John's Hill. Although not situated within the Towy valley itself, but rather the River Taf, the river meets the Towy in the estuary as shown on the map below.
